Happy Holidays

Sun Nov 29, 2009, 1:28 PM
Just wanted to drop a little something since I haven't said much lately. Been preparing to box up all of my stuff and get ready to move back to Virginia in the Spring. Gotta get it started now so we can get the house ready to sell. I really hope it does too, since this is a piss-poor time to try and sell a house. I really don't wanna have to stay in Georgia any longer than I have to.

It is Thanksgiving weekend for a little longer.....and then it will be Christmas and then New Years. 2010 is around the corner already. I can't believe it. Another year gone.

I just passed 2000 views on the Deviantart clock. Thanks to all who have stopped by and thanks for all the comments and faves! If you have some spare time, please take a gander at my Favorites.......the stuff there simply amazes me and inspires me to do better with both my art and my custom figures.

If I don't get the chance to say it again, have a great holiday season!

So......I've been toying with the idea of starting my own toy company. I've been thinking about it for awhile, but lately it seems to be more what I want to do. I have another business I wanted to start, but I may reserve that for "plan b" in case the toy thing didn't work out.

I've always wanted to start a 12" scale figure business......and it seems alot of people I know have beat me to the punch. But, I have different ideas, and I think it would still work. It seems the toy buying market is stable, probably as stable as it could get really......I just need to put pen to paper, so to speak, and get the ball rolling. I've talked to a friend of mine who had a big hand in making the figures being released by Triad Toys, and I am probably gonna ask the CEO himself if he has a few spare moments. I would like to not have to go back and forth to China like he did, but I don't think toys are even being manufactured in the Unites States, if they ever really were.

I have a shit-ton of ideas in my head for characters from my wanna-be comic book artist years......yes, I am planning on releasing a line of figures based on my ideas. Do I think they would sell? Why not? Back in the good ol days (the 70's and the 80's) that's how most good toys started. Not cartoons or movies, not video games, not comics......just a toy line. That's how Masters of the Universe started and look at them now. I think what I have could get a strong following.......but of course I also plan on doing what I originally wanted to do.....make base figures, and clothing and accessories to add to them to make your own figures. Sure, that's what others are doing right now.......but I would like to think I would offer something different than the usual "black leather dominatrix" look which some are doing, or the military look which is also popular. I'd like to offer some Samurai, some Pirates, some Swashbucklers, some Western, some Wizards and Warriors......and still offer some great superhero, sci-fi and fantasy works also. I am a big fan of Marvel & DC comics, as well as artists like Luis Royo, and Frank Frazetta. I am also influenced by the works of Ralph Bakshi and of the HEAVY METAL series of graphic novels, magazines and animated movies.

While I don't expect to become rich doing this, I do believe something like this could help me in my collection, help others with their collections, and keep me from having to do a "real job" and pay the bills.

So any 12" or 1/6th customizers out there, this is the first most of you will hear about this......let me know what you think.

That number calls for an update!

I just noticed that I now have *666* page views. And on a Sunday no less. Spooky stuff.

Yeah, I know....I haven't put anything up lately. My camera is in the hands of someone at Canon right now being fixed, for FREE! Thank the Goddess for that. Gotta love warranty work.

I have a few new pieces to add, but alot of my work will be starting to be put away as I may be moving back into town and away from the country. Long story. Not really anything interesting. Unless you find lots of traffic in the ATL interesting.

So that means all my *toys* will be put into boxes for shipping. You know what that means? Forceable remodeling! Some new decorating sometime soon.......it's rather good for the soul to move everything around and refresh your atmosphere. Don't you think?

Random Shit for July

Sat Jul 19, 2008, 6:22 AM
Hello all......just wanted to update a bit here. I wanted to say thanks to all who have happened upon this little place and checked out my works. Feel free to add me on your list, and I would do the same for you. When you have "fav'd" one of my works, I have checked out your place also.

I plan to add more customs soon hopefully, if time permits. I am also looking into adding some of my original art. I am mostly a penciler so I would probably try and ink some works, and maybe a talented colorist would want to take a stab at interpreting my linework.

If there are any figure collectors or 1/6th scale "kitbashers" out there reading this, I have a summer clearance event going on.....I have alot of leftovers and bits I am trying to sell. Also alot of Star Wars toys, both small scale and large scale in size. If you are interested please let me know.

If you like my works, you may wanna check out these boards I frequent, you will find some talent there:

News for April

Sun Apr 20, 2008, 12:53 PM
First time blogging........just wanted to say a few things. First off, thanks for all who have stopped by to take a look at what I have to offer. There are tons out there way better than me, I just wanted a place to share what I've done. Maybe I can even get some cool people to chat with who share some of the same things.

Second, I plan to start putting on some of my other works. When I say other, I mean some of my artwork, and maybe more. I have been thinking alot lately that even though I am old now, I may still have a chance to become an artist working for a comics company, or doing something in that kind of work. I mostly do pencils, I have only tried coloring once, and it didn't come out too good. I haven't drawn in years, so I may start up again. I have a "job" I guess you can say, trying to draw up some logos for my buddy's new company. I will probably just post up the older things I have, and start working on some new stuff.

I will still be posting my custom figures. If nothing else, I would like to start my own toy company, especially since the figures I find that I always want are never made. I'd like to start out by making a complete line of 12" scaled samurai related figures, alot based on movie characters like Sonny Chiba's "Yagyu Jubei", and the like. Is there such a market out there for these?

Thanks, and keep checking back......in the next few weeks I hope to have more pics, and all different kinds of formats also.

Tony
